Human Evolution
Human evolution is the lengthy process of change by which modern humans (Homo sapiens) originated from apelike ancestors. This evolutionary journey spans over six million years, involving the development of bipedalism, increased brain size, and the use of tools. Key hominin species include Australopithecus, Homo habilis, Homo erectus, and Neanderthals. Genetic, fossil, and archaeological evidence support the theory that all modern humans share a common African ancestry. Human evolution is studied through disciplines such as anthropology, paleontology, and genetics.
